The essential of Quality Improvement and Safety it emphasizes in using method and tools to continuously improve the quality and safety of care within healthcare organizations. In practice as a staff nurse, I ensured that I provide safe care. However, my knowledge and skill of viewing the entire system; methods, tools measure, and standards were all areas of weakness. Through continued education, I have been able to better understand the importance of using research to evaluate interventions and outcomes to improve quality of care. In hospitals, quality and safety are generally monitored through quality improvement committees who have an evaluation system in place. For the overall population, quality and safety are monitored through research, policy making, and health organizations. The evidence of growth in this essential by completing course work to improve health concerns within a diverse population, improving the over health care system, and improving nursing education through evaluation methods.

I totally agree that by using of the quality improvement and safety principles, we will be able to add to the incorporation of healthcare services inside healthcare systems to affect quality and safety of care to advance patient results and decrease disintegration of care and evaluate design systems and information to support improvements. We will be more prepared to apply excellent principles within an organization to be an effective change agent and leader. I also do feel that the regulatory thrust for additional transparency on outcomes of safety and quality will allow us to be able to establish if the results of standards of performance, practice, and competence have been upheld and met.

Yes health informatics, particularly advancement in the healthcare technology, has the potential to facilitate providing good quality care to the patients. I too totally believe that as the use of technology increases, we as nurses must have the skills and knowledge to utilize the existing technologies to coordinate and deliver care crosswise a variety of settings, examine point of care results, and communicate with various groups and individuals.
