Minnesota State University Moorhead MHA/NURS 650 Organizational Strategy and Systems Leadership Leadership and Strategic Theory/Principles Paper – Worth 100 points Purpose: Compose a paper that describes elements of quantum leadership and innovation focusing on strategic development of a leadership plan. Assignment Details: Apply and reflect on leadership theory. Compose a paper that includes the following components: 1. Provide a definition of quantum leadership – what is it and why is it important? Is there a leadership theory that resonates more with you vs. quantum leadership/theory (e.g. servant, authentic, etc.)? What does the future of leadership look like to you? How must we adapt/change to lead in the coming years, including leading a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce? 2. Interview a current leader in your organization who you believe is innovative in his/her approaches. Why is this person innovative? How is the leader perceived in your organization? Do individuals follow this leader? Why or why not? How does this leader present change and/or new processes? 3. Discuss and define how innovation, leadership, and strategy are connected. Make sure you clearly define each element. Provide an example of an organization that is exceling in each of these areas (can be outside of healthcare, ex. Google). What makes this organization successful? 4. Include a personal reflection about your current leadership style. You can utilize your results from your leadership assessments to help you with forming your summary of your leadership style. Do you feel that you can aspire to be a ‘quantum’ leader that is innovative? Why or why not? What will you need to do to move to this status? 5. Compose a leadership development plan. In this plan construct a personal mission statement, along with (2) long term goals and (3) short term goals directed at your own personal leadership development. Make sure you define how this plan aligns with your leadership development (what will you need to do to move towards your goals?) You might utilize a table to communicate your goals and plan to better describe this section. 6. Utilize at least five scholarly references to support your answers. 7. Assignment should meet APA format. All references should be listed. Specific information should be cited per APA format. If unsure of APA format, review APA manual and/or Purdue OWL website. 8. Assignment should be 5-7 pages (less is fine, try not to exceed 7 pages). This excludes title and reference page. 9. Submit your response by the due date to the individual assignment dropbox.
