Contributions and limitations of the field of psychology in our general knowledge

Memory assists us in all we do. The basic elements of memory are encoding, storage, and retrieval. Memories are broken down into short-term and long-term at the most foundational level. However, other concepts are important to memory, such as the use of your senses, sleeping, experience, and the brain.
As a student investigator, consider all the elements of memory with this article:
Title: Memory Puzzle: What every investigator should know.
By: Fitch, Brian D. FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin. Jan2015, p1-5. 5p. Reading Level (Lexile): 1370.
Damage to Memory
Memories are an important part of the human experience. Damage to the brain can cause interruption of memories in a variety of ways. Damage to the hippocampus, traumatic brain injuries, and excessive alcohol abuse are just some of the ways memory can be damaged.
Tests of Memory
Three neuropsychological tests of memory allow for consideration of the various types of memory that exist within an individual, each of varying importance and suggesting a different area responsible for the execution of the memory task. Use of the tests can pinpoint particular memory problems, from which a plan of action can be created. These tests include: Recency memory task, Corsi block-tapping task, and the Mirror-drawing task.
Review the following article for consideration of improving memory:
Title: 5 simple tricks to sharpen thinking and memory skills.
Harvard Health Letter, 2014 Jul; 39 (9): 1-7. (journal article – pictorial) ISSN: 1052-1577 PMID: 25314725
