need help in nursing paper

Research Paper Instructions

In the Research Paper, you will apply the sources from your Annotated Bibliography (and others you may find subsequent to submitting the Annotated Bibliography) to describe the current state of malpractice in healthcare and how healthcare professionals respond to and defend against allegations of malpractice.

Address specifically the issues raised by acknowledgement and apology in malpractice lawsuits:

· Injured patients often sue because they want an explanation of what happened, and an apology for the injuries.

· Statements by the healthcare professional that could be perceived as admissions can create legal liability in formal litigation.

· Some state laws, and some methods of alternative dispute resolution, help enable the apology without the liability.

Your paper must examine these issues and explain what options you would recommend, supported by your research and analysis. The final paper must include at least 4 scholarly sources other than the Reading & Study materials and the Bible, cited in text and in a reference list. You must also integrate biblical analysis of the topic into the paper.

The Research Paper must contain at least 1,200 words and follow full current APA paper format. The title page, abstract, and reference list do not count towards the length requirement. Submit your paper as a Word document.

Submit this assignment by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module/Week 7.

Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the SafeAssign plagiarism tool. To check the originality of your work, you may submit an optional draft through the SafeAssign draft submission link earlier in the module/week.

considering the circumstances and the preliminary workup, what type of anemia does Ms. A most likely have?

Ms. A. is an apparently healthy 26-year-old white woman. Since the beginning of the current golf season, Ms. A has noted increased shortness of breath and low levels of energy and enthusiasm. These symptoms seem worse during her menses. Today, while playing in a golf tournament at a high, mountainous course, she became light-headed and was taken by her golfing partner to the emergency clinic. The attending physician’s notes indicated a temperature of 98 degrees F, an elevated heart rate and respiratory rate, and low blood pressure. Ms. A states, “Menorrhagia and dysmenorrheal have been a problem for 10-12 years, and I take 1,000 mg of aspirin every 3 to 4 hours for 6 days during menstruation.” During the summer months, while playing golf, she also takes aspirin to avoid “stiffness in my joints.”

Laboratory values are as follows:

Hemoglobin = 8 g/dl

Hematocrit = 32%

Erythrocyte count = 3.1 x 10/mm

RBC smear showed microcytic and hypochromic cells

Reticulocyte count = 1.5%

Other laboratory values were within normal limits.

Question

Considering the circumstances and the preliminary workup, what type of anemia does Ms. A most likely have? In an essay of 500-750 words, explain your answer and include rationale.

Strengths-based nursing (SBN) is an approach to care in which eight core values which guide nursing action, thereby promoting empowerment, hope and self-efficacy

Strengths-based nursing (SBN) is an approach to care in which eight core values which guide nursing action, thereby promoting empowerment, hope and self-efficacy. In caring for patients and families, the nurse focuses on their inner and outer strengths-that is, on what patients and families do that best helps them deal with problems and minimize deficits. SBN creating environments and experiences that better enable patients and their families to take control over their lives and health care decisions.

SBN respects a person’s self-knowledge and values choice and self-determination, even though there are always limits to the choices available and a person’s ability to act in her or his own interest is affected by circumstances, knowledge, and predisposition. it is as important to consider patients’ deficits as it is to consider their strengths; both are essential aspects of the whole person. The current health care system is changing into a new system that focuses more on community-based and primary care with the hospitals forming the pillar of the health care system although they are not the primary service (Lind and Smith, 2008). This change has brought about a strength based nursing care which is aimed at developing an individual’s strength to encourage and help in healing. From the perspective of SBN, the nurse’s role is to help patients achieve their goals in the healthiest possible way.

SBN sees the nurse’s role not as deciding for others but rather as listening attentively and deeply in order to clarify, elaborate, explain, provide information, make suggestions, connect people with resources, and advocate for patients and their families so they may hear their own voices and make their voices heard. Strengths-Based Care (SBC) requires that the nurse use a process to uncover the person’s concerns, get to know the patient and members of the family as individuals, and discover their strengths in order to plan and carry out nursing care.

Nurses require strong nursing leadership to enable them practice strength-based nursing care. Strength based nursing care has a prospective of becoming a game changer in nursing and also revolutionize healthcare. In this approach the focus is redirected from shortages and crisis to use of strength of resources to deal with problems and overcome any shortcomings (Gottlieb, 2012). The medical model need not be a deficit model. The two are not mutually exclusive. Physicians can diagnose and treat problems and also have a strengths perspective and practice whole-person care.

Assignment #5 TitleHealthChoice/Maryland Managed Care Plan
Benefits Offered and Services CoveredYou want a plan that offers a comprehensive benefits package including preventive care as well as treatment programs for chronic disease management. Also, you may need emergency care and/or care away from home.  What questions would you ask to determine the benefits and covered services offered? Evaluate the HealthChoice plan and summarize your findings.
Cost vs. BenefitsManaged care plans vary widely in the cost of services offered. It may be tempting to base your selection primarily on the periodic, out-of-pocket costs to you. You can’t be sure that the least expensive plan will give you all the medical services you need.  Review cost vs. benefits for the HealthChoice plan carefully and summarize your findings.
Services of the Primary Care PhysicianChoosing your primary care physician (PCP) may be the most important decision you make when enrolling in a managed care plan. The following questions are important when choosing your plan:  Please answer each question.· Can you choose more than one PCP for your family?· Is there a large choice of primary care doctors and specialists?· How long is the average wait to get an appointment with the chosen PCP?· Can you see the same doctor consistently?· When and how can you change doctors if you are dissatisfied How does HealthChoice measure up?
Prescription Drug BenefitsWhen evaluating a health plan it is very important to know what kind of prescription drug benefits the plan offers. Depending upon the plan, there are several systems that have been implemented in efforts to control costs. Some plans offer a “generic only” plan.  What prescription drug benefits does HealthChoice offer? Are they beneficial to your current drug regimen?
Provider Network and Geographic Service AreaBe sure you inquire from the Provider Membership Directory which providers are included in the network and where they are located in your community.  If you live in one community and work in another; determine if routine care can be received in either location. Does HealthChoice have a strong network of Providers in a geographic area that is amenable to you? Must you go to different locations for different services? If you have a child away at school, does the network extend to that area?
Commitment to Quality of Care and ServiceWhat measures of quality care and satisfaction of service are available?  It is worthwhile to find out if the plan has been accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). NCQA is the most common accrediting body for network plans.  Review and report on what measures of quality care and satisfaction are available for HealthChoice.
Customer SatisfactionHow do enrolled members feel about the plan?  There are various objective forms of measurement used to determine “quality services” given by managed care plans such as accreditation, HMO report cards and/or publications produced by the industry. You would be wise to look at any that measure customer satisfaction. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) mission is to provide information that enables purchasers and consumers of managed health care to compare plans based on quality. Their web site may be reached at   http://www.ncqa.org/
Limitations, Maximums, or ExclusionsLifetime Cap refers to the maximum dollar amount of benefits available to a consumer in a managed care plan during his or her lifetime. This amount becomes important when confronted with a life-threatening disease or accident that requires prolonged care involving expensive therapeutic intervention and support.  Does HealthChoice outline limitations, maximums, or exclusions?
