For this Assignment, you will write a draft proposal to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to implement an existing technology to end hunger in any single developing nation anywhere in the world. Suggestion:Since you have already done some research on such a nation for the Unit 7 Discussion, you may want to use that nation for this Assignment.

How might you, as a public administrator, anticipate and manage the potential ethical dilemmas that may occur as a result of these differences in codes of ethics?

Discussion: Ethical Codes Across Cultures

Ethical codes are not universal across professions or even governments. A wide variety of social and cultural factors might influence an individual’s code of ethics. Likewise, for an organization, social and cultural factors in combination with its mission could influence its code of ethics. Laws, codes, and regulations even differ between state and federal governments. Consider, for example, gift giving to public servants. In some nations or locales, gift giving to public servants is acceptable and even encouraged, whereas in others, depending on perspectives, it is considered a breach of cultural and/or legal ethical codes. How might you, as a public administrator, anticipate and manage the potential ethical dilemmas that may occur as a result of these differences in codes of ethics?

In this Discussion, you compare and contrast the ethical codes of two distinct cultures in your local community, state, or nation. You also may choose an international comparison. Explore the influence of culture on these ethical codes and analyze strategies for handling conflicts in ethical codes across these cultures.

Analyze a Piece of Music   The principles of unity and variety apply to all music, regardless of compositional style or historical period

Analyze a Piece of Music   The principles of unity and variety apply to all music, regardless of compositional style or historical period.  Now that you are familiar with the concepts in the first section of the course (Basic Musical Concepts), and you have seen how they work on different pieces of music, try your hand, mouse, and ears at how they operate in a music selection that you may not have heard yet:  “Manha de Carnaval” by Sigman and Bonfa.

Your analysis should include:

•The number of different musical ideas in the piece (for example, can we say that there are two ideas A and B? Or is there only one?).

•The timings (start and stop times) of the different sections of the piece. (Hint: Listen for changes in musical ideas and timbre, for example, points when different instruments come in or give way to others.).

•How unity and variety are exemplified in those sections through the use of: 1.Dynamics.

2.Timbre.

3.Pitch. .

•Although there are sections that feature one instrument over others, whether you think this is a piece for a solo performer or for an ensemble..

•A list of the characteristics of the musical style closest to the one this piece exemplifies. (Hint: Look at the last lecture in the first section of the course). •Whether you think this piece serves (or could serve) a specific purpose.. •Whether or not it has any specific connotation(s) for you..

Determine the Quality of Information

Determine the Quality of Information

As mentioned previously, at the end of this course, you will create an “Annotated Bibliography” Final Paper on a topic within your major field of study. This week, you will begin to evaluate websites related to your research question. The websites you evaluate may be used in your Final Paper in Week Five. First, watch the video below to understand the process.

Read the handout Evaluating Information – Applying the CRAAP Test and view Google Inside Search: All Tips & Tricks before completing this assignment.

Now that you have a basic understanding of what the Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose (CRAAP) Test is and how to effectively search for information online, it is time to apply this method to the evaluation of web sources. In this assignment, you are tasked with locating three websites that will help you answer your research question. Two of these websites must pass all five criteria of the CRAAP Test.

Using the                     Determine the Quality of Information Worksheet, you will apply the elements of the CRAAP test to your chosen websites. You are expected to provide a brief evaluation of how each website met or did not meet the requirements of the CRAAP Test, as directed in the worksheet. You will also reflect on the differences you found between the two websites that passed the CRAAP Test and the one that did not. Download the worksheet to your computer and save it in an easy to find location. You will then complete the worksheet based on your research and evaluation of websites, saving your final work.

View this   Determine the Quality of Information Worksheet (Example) to guide you as you complete this assignment.

Once you have completed the Determine the Quality of Information Worksheet, submit the completed worksheet through the Assignment Submission button in the online classroom.

In this class, you have three   tutoring services available: Paper Review, Live Chat, and Tutor E-mail.   Click on the Ashford Writing Center (AWC) tab in the left-navigation menu to   learn more about these tutoring options and how to get help with your   writing.

Supporting   Second Language Learning

Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Reference the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.

Supporting   Second Language Learning

Our classrooms are filled with students who come from diverse backgrounds.  When we get to know our students and their families, we strengthen the home-school connection, which research has reported leads to increased student achievement.   Using information gained the textbook readings and the required article, Can Preschool Children be Taught a Second Language?, explain strategies that effectively support students who are learning a second language.  You can use the textbook andthe recommended article, Responding to Linguistic and Cultural Diversity, to support your discussion.
Your 300-350 word post should be formatted to include the following in order:

  • Three ways to support children learning a second      language in the classroom
  • Two ways to support the families of children learning a      second language
  • One example of a resource you can use to help plan for      children learning a second language, with a summary and justification of      your choice
  • One question you still have about learning a second      language

Refer to Chapter 4 of the text and additional resources, and draw from your own insights.  Citations must be properly formatted in APA style.
Guided Response:  After reading several posts, respond to at least two classmates, and address the question they still have about learning a second language.  You do not necessarily need to provide them with an answer, but you may want to provide information related to what you have learned.

Explain the implications of these differences on the actions you might take and on the potential results as they relate to the agency. Be specific, and provide examples to illustrate your points.

Discussion 2: Leadership Perspectives

Leaders believe in creating change out of a spirit of community, building a collaborative vision through dialogue, and developing a vision that integrates personal and professional beliefs.

The concepts of leadership, advocacy, and change are intertwined. Leaders are expected to be innovators, risk takers, and strategic thinkers. They also need to be advocates at the local, state, and national levels, and they need to motivate and lead members, followers, and communities to do the same. Advocacy enables, empowers, and encourages members to become involved in change.

To prepare:

Think about different leadership, change, and advocacy  perspectives as they relate to the agency you selected for your Capstone  Project.

Post a brief description of your agency the United Nations Environmental Protection. Describe at least three distinctions in how the leadership perspective might differ from either the change or advocacy perspectives as they relate to your agency. Explain the implications of these differences on the actions you might take and on the potential results as they relate to the agency. Be specific, and provide examples to illustrate your points.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources.
