You will prepare and submit a term paper on Aromatherapy.

You will prepare and submit a term paper on Aromatherapy. Your paper should be a minimum of 2750 words in length. On palliative care, the prevailing attitude is that unorthodox therapy methods like dance, touch, yoga, acupuncture, homeopathy, and osteopathy may be tolerated on managing chronic bodily pain but unacceptable in other areas of medical treatment outside palliative care. Thus, Bausell (2007) notes that although alternative medicine has grown in popularity in the past 15 years as a healthcare system, people still largely use it as a complement to conventional healthcare. However, evidence continues to mount that aromatherapy, especially the use of essential oils, has displaced conventional medicine as a treatment of choice in many countries. In fact, the Cochran Complementary Medicine Field in 2007 revealed that what is considered complementary or alternative therapy in one country is now considered a conventional medical practice in another (Manheimer & Berman, 2007). This only confirms what the World Health Organisation (WHO) reported as early as 1978 that the majority of the world’s population has come to depend on traditional medicine for primary healthcare.

Such reported increase in the clinical importance of essential oil use among all aromatherapy methods is the main topic selected for this paper because of its high social relevance and potential for achieving the goals of the primary healthcare program, which means health for all. The reason is that while other plant-based medicines are now prepared commercially to come at a cost, essential oils can be extracted at home by anyone with a backyard plot of volatile herbs and are therefore affordable to everyone. For a nurse like me, the socially oriented and community-based healthcare scenario promised by plant-extracted therapeutic oils is a special concern because, together with midwives, nurses belong to the primary healthcare loop that may work for a public health center or a general physician within a community. In this connection, Ersser (1990, in Price & Price, 1999) observed: “A significant number of nurses within the health authority are now using essential oils and/or massage in their practice.

Electronic Data Security Essay

Class: Electronic Data Security

Assignment: Written Assignment – Site Analysis

Note: This is a Survey not a paper. Please use a Survey format on this assignment.

While it may be difficult to learn all of the ways that criminals may attack a website, awareness and preparation can go a long way towards mitigating the damage caused by hackers. An important first step to preventing problems is selecting software carefully and with security in mind.

Requirements:

Consider the scenario that you are working as an IT Director for a hospital considering the selection of a web-based electronic health record (EHR) system.  Using both your understanding of the architecture behind web applications and your awareness of some of the many ways web applications are attacked, prepare a survey or list of questions that can be asked of EHR vendors who are presenting demonstrations and sales pitches regarding their web-based EHR products.  The answers to these questions will be used to compare the EHRs you are considering in terms of how well they would protect patient data from theft, denial of service, or other kinds of compromise.Your survey should include the following criteria:

  • Contain open-ended questions – Do not just ask “yes” or “no” questions.
  • Be specific in terms of types of attack protected against.
  • Be specific in terms of architecture components.
  • Be sure that your questions specifically address the Web-Based security considerations of the EHR.
  • Be 1-2 pages in length, double-spaced,
  • Be free of spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.

TIP: The second written assignment has you working on a site analysis for a hypothetical web-based EHR. What kind of questions would you ask a vendor that was trying to sell you an EHR that was online or in the cloud?  This assignment is focused on the SECURITY of the product – be sure to review the Rubric!  There should only be questions regarding Security of a Web-Based EHR, we are not looking for questions on any other functionality of the EHR – do not just go and find questions that would work for any generic EHR or you will not do well on this assignment.   You can submit 50 questions in your assignment but if they do not address the types of questions asked for in the rubric, they will not count for points!  The reading in the Lesson Content this week will be helpful in this assignment.  Be sure to email me with questions.

Assignment: Are We Ready for Joint Commission

Ensuring that an organization is ready for an accreditation, licensing and/or certification is an on-going process not a one-time activity. It can be beneficial to utilize tools in order to define the process to ensure compliance with standards and guidelines and to gain commitment from the stakeholders by involving them in the process with specific responsibilities relating to their organizational areas and areas of expertise. There are two parts to this assignment to prepare a hospital for a Joint Commission Accreditation Survey. Note that although this is for Joint Commission a similar process can be used to prepare for a licensing survey or other accrediting body.

  1. Open the document titled “Accreditation Survey Activity Guide for Health Care Organizations” by clicking on the link below. Review the document to become familiar with the areas that a hospital would need to assess in order to ensure organization wide readiness for a Joint Commission Accreditation Survey.

For this assignment you will review the section on Leadership and Data Use, page 85.

Based on the information provided in this section of the areas that the surveyor will review with leadership at the time of the survey, create an assessment document that you would have used to perform the organizational assessment for each of the eight areas in the Leadership and Data Use Overview. Include what information/reports you would have required and from which stakeholders. This can be done in a table or spreadsheet (see example below). See the list of possible leadership stakeholders below.

Tips: Also, this week we are learning how to get ready for an accreditation survey. This can be a very stressful event for any healthcare facility. However, the key is not to get ready when you have a survey coming, but to stay ready at all times. In your assignment this week, you are creating tables to help the facility get ready for Joint Commission.

In part 1, you are given an article to read. Go through this article to get an overall feel of what to expect during the survey. Pay particular attention to page 85 as this is the information you will need to complete your first table. On page 85, you are given topics that the surveyor will want to discuss. Your job is to create a table that will include the topics to be discussed, the stakeholder, the activity for preparation, and the outcome. Follow the example table given in the directions.

In part 2, you are given a checklist for Joint Commission Preparations. Go through the checklist and create a table of each preparation activity, the responsible leader, and what should be done for each activity. Your table should look like the example within the assignment directions.

Company Organizational problems.

Course ProjectFor this course, you will have a course project that includes the written assignments inWeeks 1, 3, and 5. TheWeek 3andWeek 5assignments are considered major assignments, which combined are worth over half of the total course points. It will likely take you more than one week to complete theWeek 3 and 5major assignments, so begin working on those tasks sooner rather than later.Summary of Weekly Deliverables: Week 1: Identify a subject organization. Provide an initial assessment of some organizational problem utilizing relevant OD and change themes. Provide an annotated reference list of at least five peer-reviewed resources that can help you better understand the OD and change themes, and assess the organizational problem. Week 3: On the basis of yourWeek 1work, observations, interviews, and/or additional research, present a paper assessing the root causes of the organizational problem using organization development and change themes. Week 5: On the basis of yourWeek 1andWeek 3work, justify an action plan based on strong research. What are the consequences to the organization for failing to act? What are the benefits of addressing the problem? What are the recommended action steps for the organization? For Week 1:Tasks:Locate a suitable subject organization for your course project. The organization can be your current organization or one that you are familiar with. Contact your instructor early in the week if you need assistance selecting an organization. For your paper, provide a summary of the organization. Include the following details in your summary: What is the organization? What does it do? Who does it do it to/for?In organizational diagnosis, one of the first steps is an initial assessment of potential areas of concern. If you were contracting with an organization as a consultant, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) would likely share with you why you are being hired in the early conversations. As part of the process, you would make observations, look at some organizational documents, and even have some informal conversations with organizational members to get a sense of where issues might be located so that you can determine how you will gather the necessary data for diagnosing problems and recommending solutions. In your paper, provide an initial assessment of some organizational problems that are evident in your case study organization. Your assessment in other courses have focused on problems related specifically to individuals, group/teams, or organizational levels (that were the focus of the specific course). In this course, you will use your full range of organizational and leadership theory knowledge across all levels and interact between the levels to determine needed interventions and change. What are the symptoms of the problems? What is the evidence that problems actually exist? What are the relevant OD and change themes that might explain the problems (and not just the symptoms)?Remember, helpful questions about organizations include: What does the organization do? How do we help the organization do it better, to make it more effective and efficient while at the same time making it a rewarding and satisfying place to work?On the basis of your initial assessment, one of the first things you will need to do is determine the additional information required for fully assessing the situation. In other words, what resources do you need to better understand the themes and assess the organizational difficulty? For your paper, provide an annotated reference list of at least five peer-reviewed sources that are relevant to your case study. Most of the references should relate to OD and change themes. However, at least one resource must relate to methodology (e.g., how to do organizational diagnosis, how to lead change, etc.). Remember, for APA, every reference must have at least one corresponding in-text citation. For this paper, the annotated reference list is your reference list, and entries need to be part of your research and support in the paper. An annotated reference list means that each reference is followed by a brief (usually about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited. Annotations are descriptive and critical; they expose the author’s point of view and authority. They do not just generically indicate what an article (or text) is about. Rather, they provide concrete details about the content of the source.Submission Details: Use APA format and style for your paper. Complete your analysis in a 5- to 6-page Microsoft Word document.

Racial and discrimination element could be found in every American Discussion.

Racial and discrimination element could be found in every American. Lorraine Hansberry through his play “A raisin in the sun” clearly elaborate and explained this ability of American. In her play she relates the story of an African American family. American believes on high position and they do not take seriously who are and where you come from. Her play is a depiction of our cultural legacy in which she expresses a story of Younger family. This is an African American family. This family consists of five members. Mama, she is the widow of Mr. Younger who has been died.

Walter is the son of mama; he is married and has a son. Beneatha is the daughter of the mama and she is a medical college student. This family is living into a two bedrooms apartment on the backside of Chicago. When we go through the whole story of the Younger’s family, we came to know that every member of the family does have different dreams. They are living extremely serious problem. This play gives a vivid picture of interdisciplinary lesson and revolves around the materialistic life in which everyone wants to help each other and develop love and care for each other.

Younger Family

The gives the perilous way to the Younger family to fulfill their dreams and live a peaceful life. Mama who is the widow of the Mr. younger wants to buy house and wishes to spend money on the career of her daughter. Walter is a materialistic man. He dreams to have a wealthy and extra-ordinary life.

Story so far. Younger family gets a check of $10,000 for the death of their father insurance policy. Now they are expecting to acquire their dreams. Walter tells the story on this site of their future to his son. He wants to have everything that he wished in his childhood for his son. He thinks he will provide every possible facility to his son that he had never when he was a child.

This story clearly expresses the wish to fulfill dream, where each has a dream and he wants to acquire his dream. This play also portraits the clear picture of our cultural legacy. We just look down upon the black community and behave like they are less prior.

Sentencing guidelines put people in prison for a gratuitous amount of time, which costs the taxpayers immensely with no tangible social benefit. Repealing minimum sentencing would allow judges to choose punishment that fits the crime and give less prison time to the non-violence of mandatory minimum sentencing, which would help reduce unfair prison sentencing and racial discrimination.

Conclusion

In conclusion the need for continuing to teach diversity and cultural awareness in society has proven to be beneficial in ways that used to be only neglected action. Learning cultural sensitivity will continue to impact minorities each day (Price, 2010). As cultural sensitivity is growing each day in society more individuals should continue to stay active in learning to assimilate themselves with a minority’s culture and build a better relationship with them. Due to variety of different cultures of minorities individuals will continue to be taught how to be culturally aware and sensitive.

Individuals are starting to become experts when dealing with instances of having to be culturally aware or culturally sensitive, in turn the barriers pertaining to understanding a minorities culture are starting to be eliminated. Depending on what the minority needs pertaining to their cultural norms and values it will determine what services and additional resources that will provided for the minority. Individuals can understand the both the minorities cultural norms and values, this will not only benefit the minority because they feel comfortable around the individual. The society will benefit because minorities will feel a sense of trust and they will become more productive members of society. Making it a stress free and happy society for all parties.

Climate change effects on ecosystem or organisms of your choice.

Paper Guidelines Your paper will allow you to focus on a topic of your own interest in the field of marine science. I can be thought of as uniting your knowledge of some of the major course themes or exploring one idea more fully. You may choose a topic from the list below, or suggest your own topic of current research. It is best to focus on a somewhat narrowly defined topic for this short paper. You will delve into the scientific literature and synthesize the ideas from three recent scholarly articles that address your chosen topic. The paper will summarize the background of the topic and incorporate the key points of each of your three references. It will conclude with a summary of progress that was made in this field of marine science or a critical analysis of competing ideas presented by these three studies.

Possible Topics

Acidification effects on (organisms of your choice)

Climate change effects on (ecosystem or organisms of your choice)

Recovery of (ecosystem of your choice) after a (tsunami/hurricane/other disturbance)

Pollution (pick a type) effects on (ecosystem or organism of your choice)

If you are interested in a topic that is not on this list, it can be approved by the course instructor by the end of week 4.

Paper Details and Grading

The paper should be 1200-1500 words long, not including the citation section. It is due by the last day of week 9. In order to receive full credit for the paper (100 points total) it should address some of the most recent scientific progress on your topic and the following questions.

Introduction: What is the topic and why is it important? What are the ideas that you will address in this paper? (This may simply be the three scholarly articles that you have chosen – explain what each paper contributes to the overall topic.) (25 points)

Body of paper/for each reference: If the paper was a review or expository article, indicate that it was used as background material. If the paper was a primary research report, what was the specific aim or hypothesis of the study? Briefly, if applicable, what are the methods used to address the hypothesis? What were the major results and conclusions of the study? (40 points)

Conclusion: What progress has been made in our understanding of this topic? Are there similarities or differences in the conclusions of the three studies, if applicable? What are the scientific questions that are being addressed or that remain unexplained in this field? (25 points)

Sources and Citations (10 points)

Try to choose source material that has been published within the last 5-15 years in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. Quite often, the most interesting studies are also summarized and reported in other reputable science publications such as Science Daily, Science, or Nature Magazines. Starting with these “summary” articles can help you to understand the context and conclusions of the study. In your citation section at the end of the paper, please cite these sources as well as the initial publication of the scientific study. If you are unsure about using a particular source material, please ask the instructor if it is a good choice. It can be useful to use a review article as a source of background, but these may cover an excess of information – please consult the instructor to approve your articles if you are not sure if your choices are appropriate. Citations can be indicated in the text by sequential numbering or by (author, publication year). Citation formatting is up to you, but should be consistent.

Discussion on Research Criteria

lease see attachment for support files

Research Paper Criteria:

You will be required to write a research paper this semester. Your research paper topic should have been proposed and outlined by the end of Week 2.

The research paper specifications are as follows:

Body of the report (Introduction to Conclusion) needs to be 8-10 pages (double-spaced) and Times New Roman 12-pt font (NOTE: Report body does not include Title Page, Abstract, Table of Contents, and Reference sections)

Must have Abstract, Table of Contents, Introduction, Conclusion and section headings

Use at least five references outside of your textbook (you may use your textbook too, but are not required to).

In addition to the required number of pages for the assignment, you must also include a reference page (bibliography), written in APA style and a title page. Be sure to give all of your papers a descriptive title!

You must submit a rough draft at the end of Week 5. This is to be a complete paper, meeting the page requirements – not a partially completed paper. Points will be deducted for short or incomplete papers. Your rough draft will not be graded by the rubric, but helpful feedback will be provided to indicate where you are falling short. You may correct any deficiencies before resubmitting your final version at the end of Week 7.

Typewritten in double-spaced format with a readable style and font and submitted inside the electronic classroom (unless classroom access is not possible and other arrangements have been approved by the professor).

Page margins Top, Bottom, Left Side and Right Side = 1 inch, with reasonable accommodation being made for special situations

Your paper must be in your own words, representing original work. Paraphrases of others’ work must include attributions to the authors. Limit quotations to an average of no more than 3-5 lines, and use quotations sparingly! It is always better to paraphrase than to directly quote.
