Assignment: Group Typology

As a clinical social worker it is important to understand group typology in order to choose the appropriate group method for a specific population or problem. Each type of group has its own approach and purpose. Two of the more frequently used types of groups are task groups and intervention groups.

For this Assignment, review the “Cortez Multimedia” case study, and identify a target behavior or issue that needs to be ameliorated, decreased, or increased. In a 2- to 4-page report, complete the following:

  • Choose either a treatment group or task group as your intervention for Paula Cortez.
  • Identify the model of treatment group (i.e., support, education, teams, or treatment conferences).
  • Using the typologies described in the Toseland & Rivas (2017) piece, describe the characteristics of your group. For instance, if you choose a treatment group that is a support group, what would be the purpose, leadership, focus, bond, composition, and communication?
  • Include the advantages and disadvantages of using this type of group as an intervention.

Evidence-Based Practice Proposal – Section C:

Literature Support

Details:
To begin, work through the reference list that was created in the “Section B: Problem Description” assignment in Topic 2. Appraise each resource using the “Rapid Critical Appraisal Checklists,” available in the textbook appendix. The specific checklist you use will be determined by the type of evidence within the resource.

Develop a research table to organize and summarize the research studies. Using a summary table allows you to be more concise in your narrative description. Only research studies used to support your intervention are summarized in this table. Refer to the “Evaluation Table Template,” available in the textbook appendix. Use the “Evaluation Table Template” as an adaptable template.

Write a narrative of 750-1,000 words (not including the title page and references) that presents the research support for the projects problem and proposed solution. Make sure to do the following:

Include a description of the search method (e.g., databases, keywords, criteria for inclusion and exclusion, and number of studies that fit your criteria).
Summarize all of the research studies used as evidence. The essential components of each study need to be described so that readers can evaluate its scientific merit, including study strengths and limitations.
Incorporate a description of the validity of the internal and external research.
It is essential to make sure that the research support for the proposed solution is sufficient, compelling, relevant, and from peer-reviewed professional journal articles.

Although you will not be submitting the checklist information or the evaluation table you design in Topic 3 with the narrative, the checklist information and evaluation table should be placed in the appendices for the final paper.

Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin. Please refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.

Upon receiving feedback from the instructor, refine “Section C: Literature Support” for your final submission. This will be a continuous process throughout the course for each section.

HOMEWORK

For this week’s assignment, you’ll need to read and respond to at least two other students’ essays and provide them feedback. These responses must include the Peer Review rubric. Use the rubric to provide constructive feedback, incorporating specific, positive remarks as well as helpful suggestions so your peer can see you genuinely evaluated their rough draft.

Additional Instructions:

  • Select at least one essay      which has only one or no responses so everyone has a chance to receive      feedback.
  • Focus primarily on      content, not grammar, spelling, punctuation, or format. If you point out      errors, give examples from the paper so the writer knows where to      look.

Here is a link to the Peer Review Rubric to utilize in your feedback: Peer  Review  Rubric

Provide an overall conclusion and impression of your peer’s paper.  What did your peer do right? What could they improve?  This should include recommendations and constructive comments to help your peer improve.

This week we will be undergoing the Peer Review process. This process is important because it allows us to gain insight from other perspectives (as well as allow us to give insight). For this week’s discussion, your initial post will consist of your Week 6 Rough draft (which you should submit in Week 6 after you’ve submitted your rough draft to your instructor). You will need to respond to at least two of your fellow student’s rough drafts as well. There are two key things to remember when doing this: Try not to give one sentence answers, but instead provide positive feedback as well as constructive criticism. Remember that the idea is to support your classmates’ and let them know what they are doing well and what could be improved (but make sure to avoid negativity). Also, focus on the larger issues with the essay (content, structure, organization, use of sources, arguments, thesis, etc.) rather than smaller issues like editing or proofreading.

Operation Management In Business

Operation Management In Business

ScenarioPrêt A Manger opened their first shop in the mid-1980s, in London. Now they have over 130 shops in UK, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo. They say that their secret is to focus continually on quality – not just of their food, but in every aspect of their operations practice. They go to extraordinary lengths to avoid the chemicals and preservatives common in most ‘fast’ food, say the company. ‘Many food retailers focus on extending the shelf life of theirfood, but that’s of no interest to us.

We maintain our edge by selling food that simply can’t be beaten for freshness. At the end of the day, we give whatever we haven’t sold to charity to help feed those who would otherwise go hungry. When we were just starting out, a big supplier tried to sell us coleslaw that lasted sixteen days. Can you imagine! Salad that lasts sixteen days? There and then we decided Pret would stick to wholesome fresh food – natural stuff. We have not changed that policy.’

The first Prêt A Manger shop had its own kitchen where fresh ingredients were delivered first thing every morning, and food was prepared throughout the day.

Every Pret shop since has followed this model. The team members serving on the tills at lunchtime will have been making sandwiches in the kitchen that morning.

The company rejected the idea of a huge centralized sandwich factory even though it could significantly reduce costs. Prêt also own and manage all their shops directly so that they can ensure consistently high standards in all their shops. ‘We are determined never to forget that our hard-working people make all the difference. They are our heart and soul. When they care, our business is sound. If they cease to care, our business goes down the drain. In a retail sector where high staff turnover is normal, we’re pleased to say our people are much more likely to stay around! We work hard at building great teams. We take our reward schemes and career opportunities very seriously. Operation Management In Business

We don’t work nights (generally), we wear jeans, we party!’ Customer feedback is regarded as being particularly important at Pret. Examining customers’ comments for improvement ideas is a key part of weekly management meetings, and of the daily team briefs in each shop.

Describe the function of the liver

Describe the function of the liver

Responses to classmates must consist of at least 271 words (not including the greeting and the references), do NOT repeat the same thing your classmate is saying, try to add something of value like a resource, educational information to give to patients, possible bad outcomes associated with the medicines discussed in the case, try to include a sample case you’ve seen at work and discuss how you feel about how that case was handled. Try to use supportive information such as current Tx guidelines, current research related to the treatment, anything that will enhance learning in the online classroom. Educating a combined class of 6th and 7th graders about the anatomy and physiology of cirrhosis. Class Objectives 1.Describe the function of the liver 2.Understanding cirrhosis 3.Applications of risk factors What is the Liver? The liver is the largest solid organ in your body. It will be about the size of a football when you are grown. The liver has so many functions, but I will just describe the top three. The liver filters and cleans blood. After you eat the good nutrients from the food pass from the intestines to the blood. That blood then goes through the liver. The liver can process the good things out of the blood that the body needs. It then sends the stuff the body doesn’t need with bile to the intestines where you poop it out or sends it to the kidneys where you pee it out (Cirrhosis, n.d). The liver makes bile. When you eat the digestive system takes everything your body needs from the food. One of the things your body gets from food is fat. Bile is a juice produced by the liver that helps digest the fats (Cirrhosis, n.d.).

The liver stores glycogen. The liver helps the body use carbs which are found in foods like breads, milk, and fruits. The body breaks down carbs into sugar called glucose. Glucose is the main source of fuel for our cells, and when it is stored in the liver it is called glycogen. The liver releases glycogen into the blood when we need a quick burst of energy or if blood sugars are too low (Cirrhosis, n.d.). Describe the function of the liver Understanding Cirrhosis Cirrhosis is a disease where the liver becomes injured or scarred. When the liver is scarred and damaged it does not function well, and the functions of the liver are essential to life. If the liver is not functioning you can experience yellowing of the skin and eyes (called jaundice) throwing up blood, pooping blood (result of what is called portal hypertension), being tired a lot, fluid buildup in the belly or arms and legs (called ascites), and can lose your desire to eat (McCance, Huether, Brashers, & Rote, 2014). Risk factors In adults the most common risk factors leading to cirrhosis are alcohol use and hepatitis C which is a virus that can be spread by sharing needles or other equipment used to inject drugs (CDC,n.d.). Figures 1 and 2 Liver Image from Up To Date, 2019. Video Link https://youtu.be/BWqas5R5M6A The reason I decided on this video is because of the group I am trying to reach. There were several videos that contained so much information and very boring monotone dialogue. I knew that this needed to be short and to the point to maintain attention. I also liked that it was full of color and animated, reaching to the 6th and 7th grade students that my aim is for. The video discusses just cirrhosis, the only thing I would change would do a small bit about the function of the liver before what cirrhosis is. It discusses portal hypertension, ascites, jaundice, and hepatic encephalopathy. References Cirrhosis. (n.d.). Assignment: Regulation for Nursing Practice Staff Development Meeting

Nursing is a very highly regulated profession. There are over 100 boards of nursing and national nursing associations throughout the United States and its territories. Their existence helps regulate, inform, and promote the nursing profession. With such numbers, it can be difficult to distinguish between BONs and nursing associations, and overwhelming to consider various benefits and options offered by each.

Both boards of nursing and national nursing associations have significant impacts on the nurse practitioner profession and scope of practice. Understanding these differences helps lend credence to your expertise as a professional. In this Assignment, you will practice the application of such expertise by communicating a comparison of boards of nursing and professional nurse associations. You will also share an analysis of your state board of nursing.

To Prepare:

  • Assume that you are leading a staff development meeting on regulation for nursing practice at your healthcare organization or agency.
  • Review the NCSBN and ANA websites to prepare for your presentation.
