This week you will write a current day news article using the main points from a childhood fairytale.

First, to understand the elements of a news article, be sure to watch the video posted under Lesson 2. Then, select the fairytale or children’s story you would like to spin into a modern news article (many options are provided in the Lesson).

Next, consider the main points of the story you selected. Decide on the who, what, where, when, why, and how of the story, and then decide whether there is any additional information your reader might need to know. For example, if there is any magic in the fairytale you have chosen, decide how it might be explained in the real world.

Read the sample fairytale news article example titled “Little Red Riding Hood”, linked here and also attached below.

Then, write the news article about your fairytale or childhood story. Have fun and remember to include all of your key story elements. Some of the questions might not be specified in the story, but they must be answered in your article, even if you must create the answer. For example, most versions of “Little Red Riding Hood” specify no time frame other than “once upon a time,” and many specify no location other than some unnamed woods. You must fill in such gaps from your own imagination.

Remember that news articles are meant to be complete yet brief. Therefore, this assignment has a strict word count of between 150 to 200 words – no more, no less. Think about the story, and use strong vocabulary to convey your message so you can use as few words as possible.

Double check your news article for the following:

AT&T and Verizon say that the cell towers will not be disruptive, but many CEOs explain that the towers will be more disruptive that originally thought. The CEOs of the airlines asked that the cell towers be restricted from being put up within two miles of an airport.

Use the Black-Scholes Option Pricing formula to come up with option’s priceassuming a 1-year maturity and a 20% price volatility for gate prices.
  3. Compare the price of the call option with the NPV in the No Real Options scenario. Is the option worth it?

JTM really liked your work on the option pricing of the gates, so they ask you to look at their 3-phase expansion at their home airport. The three phases are:

a. Upon purchase of the new gates, start a marketing program to promote JTM’s routes to the East Coast, West Coast, and the Caribbean. If all goes well and the market is receptive, they will go on to phase 2.

b. Phase 2 has JTM invest in new routes to the destinations listed. If at any time, JTM finds that this is not going to work, they will pull the plug on everything.

c. Phase 3 has JTM start the new routes to the destinations listed. If things don’t go well on any of the three destinations, they will pull the plug on everything.

d. After much work with other departments, you generate enough data to calculate the NPV of the 3-phase expansion. Before you have a chance to save all your work, there is a power spike and you lose part of your work. You have to complete it for a presentation.
