Analyzing Student Workflow for Effective Online Learning using Canvas

Section 1. Literature Review
Write a synopsis of your literature review in the form of an annotated bibliography. This is a brief review of your sources relating to your subject of interest, industry, challenge/problem for which youre solving, and/or anything else about the literature that feeds directly into your project.

Section 2. Treatment: What Are You Solving For?
Based on your literature review begin creating a treatment or general story framework that will outline how your research supports, or points to, a need or solution. This is what you are solving for.

While your treatment will likely be short and very high level at this point, consider what youre solving for, or trying to achieve with the project, and how youre dealing with the issue or challenge that the literature or research identifies. Your treatment may take a variety of forms, depending on your chosen project, from a flowchart to simply a written outline, but start putting the framework around your project.

Research essay – Economics

Informal vs formal
Informal-Personal:
I think good work ethic is important.
Formal:
Good work ethic is important.

This is a formal essay. Formal essays are always the opinion of the writer but the trick is to state his or her opinion without ever using “I”.

The Essay itself

There are no topics decided for you but instead you choose a topic with a clear thesis statement at the end of the introduction that is either based on one of the articles in your study this year or an important theme linked with economics. Remember that a thesis statement is a statement but not a question.

You must get approval from your teacher about the topic you want to write about before you begin to write the essay.

Examples of topics not necessarily connected to the articles might be, for example:

The effect of COVID-19 on small businesses
Using business to help the world
The rise of e-commerce
Economics and video games

This essay is pair work. You will choose a topic and then find a clear thesis you will support with clear examples and two outside sources (one of which can be the article you chose your topic from). At the end of the essay, there must be a bibliography (heimildarskrá) according to the APA system.

Note that you must include at least one example of direct quote and one example of indirect quote.

Since this is a research essay, where you are required to make correct use of secondary sources, you are encouraged to use Turnitin to make sure you are dealing with sources the right way.

Wrong use of outside sources will cause a failure in this part of your studies and your grade will be in accordance with that. Plagiarism means a notification will be sent to the heads of school.

Your essay must have at least 3 arguments to support your thesis statement.

Your setup should then be set up thus:

v  Introduction
Ø  Starting the essay and ends with a clear thesis statement.
v  Argument 1
Ø  Weakest argument.
v  Argument 2
Ø  stronger than the first argument
v  Argument 3
The strongest argument
v  Conclusion
Ø  The closure of the essay where you sum up what you have said in the essay. You cannot bring in new information here.
v  A bibliography (APA system)

Length: About 400-600 words
Types:            Send it through Turnitin and nowhere else..
Language:      British English (UK) or American English (US). Do not mix the two.

Do’s and Don’ts

Do:
·       read the instructions.
·       check whether your use of sources is done correctly
·       check whether the essay makes sense.
·       check whether you are following instructions.
·       check the setup of the essay.
·       check whether paragraph breaks are clear and all of the same kind.
·       check the grammar and spelling

Don‘t:
·       Don’t use ellipsis, such as “it’s”, “he’s”, etc. It is not formal.
·       Don’t use subtitles.
·       Don’t use “I think”, “I feel” or any form of “I” at all anywhere in the essay.
·       Don’t begin to prepare yourself the night before the deadline.
·       Don’t hurry.

Evaluation
v  Organisation
v  Content
v  Use of secondary sources and bibliography
v  Vocabulary
v  Spelling and grammar

Parent news letter – My Blog

This assignment supports CLO 3: Analyze strategies that empower families to establish and maintain collaborative relationships to support the growth and development of children.

Parent Newsletter

For this assignment you will create and upload into Canvas a parent newsletter. You can use a template from word. This is not a newsletter to let parents know about the current theme, field trips, or fun things going on in the program. If the letter covers this information you will not get credit for the letter. This is a letter that teacher/director/owner would write to inform parents and families of something more serious. The topic you choose should be the only topic covered in the newsletter.

Your one page newsletter should include:

Heading/Newsletter title, date, your name
Main contents/body:
What was the incident?
How was it taken care of?
Resources regarding the incident (example: if the incident was a lice breakout, is there a link to a website that would inform parents, is there information about how to get rid of lice in hair or furniture?…)
More criteria:

Clarity of message (is it understandable?)
Accuracy of information (is it true?)
Quality of information (something parents may not know? Too much info? Too little info?)
Visually appealing (neat/attractive. Too busy? Too little information?)
Grammar and spelling
Good graphic, design, and style.
Some suggestions for parent guidance:

Violence witnessed Death (family member, friend, pet)

Medical incident. Communicable disease

Injury at school Illness (flu, COVID-19…)

Lice outbreak Police/fire at school

Clifford believes that it is immoral, irresponsible, and frankly lazy to hold beliefs without adequate evidence. What is his evidence for that claim? Is it good evidence?

Please answer your assigned question as thoroughly as you can. A good SW will almost never be shorter than half a page and they will usually be about a page long. No heading other than the number of the question that you’re answering is necessary or useful. You need not and should not paste the question onto the page. These are supposed to be thoughtful responses to course material, not final term papers. They should be clear and not ornamented. Just come to the point and stick to it.
Clifford believes that it is immoral, irresponsible, and frankly lazy to hold beliefs without adequate evidence. What is his evidence for that claim? Is it good evidence?
Can you think of any area of life in which we should hold beliefs and not bother trying to make sure that we only have beliefs that are founded on some sort of evidence? (That is, are there exceptions to Clifford’s view?) If so, what is it, and why, in that area, should we lower our standards of judgment?
Before watching the “Logic” video, what did you expect that it would say? Was there anything in it that surprised you? If so, what and why?
Do we live in an enlightened age, as Kant describes such an age?

Ethical Issues during Forensic Assessments Instructions Assignment 2: RA: Ethica

Ethical Issues during Forensic Assessments
Instructions
Assignment 2: RA: Ethical Issues during Forensic Assessments
When conducting forensic assessments, it is important for forensic mental health professionals to have a thorough understanding of the following:
Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct Including 2010 Amendments
Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychology: Adopted by APA Council of Representatives
Ethical issues are commonly present when completing forensic assessments. Read the scenario below and discuss the ethical issues therein.
Dr. Smith was contacted by the District County Attorney’s office to evaluate Mr. Doe as part of a sexually violent predator civil commitment hearing. Dr. Smith agreed to complete the evaluation and contacted the prison facility, where Mr. Doe was being held, to schedule an appointment.
Upon arrival at the prison, Mr. Doe’s attorney indicated that he wanted to be present for the interview and psychological testing. Dr. Smith agreed, and they proceeded with the interview. During the interview, while discussing his sex offense history, Mr. Doe admitted to offending against two adult females. He also reported offending against his three-year-old daughter. He indicated that his relationship with his wife, although rocky at times, is generally supportive. Upon inquiry, he reported a history of domestic abuse, which was never reported. He explained that due to his arrest and incarceration, his wife has had to find a job to be able to continue to afford their housing. He reported that he previously worked as a general maintenance worker at a local trucking company. He explained that he cheated on his wife with a coworker, who has since stopped all communication. He indicated that this coworker used to visit and send him letters and money when he was first “locked up.” He reported that he was angry that she ceased all communication, without explanation, and spoke of her with rage and hostility. He said, “If I ever see her again, I’ll kill her.”
During the administration of the psychological tests, Mr. Doe asked to use the restroom once and was provided another five-minute break. There was a great deal of background noise throughout the interview and administration. On two occasions, Mr. Doe asked his attorney how he should answer the question. He was advised, and he answered as such. Upon the completion of testing, Dr. Smith thanked Mr. Doe and his attorney for their time and indicated that he would see them in court.
If released, Mr. Doe will return to his home with his wife and two daughters. He has reported to the prison staff that he will also return to his previous job and may enroll in vocational classes at an area community college.
Tasks:
As a forensic mental health professional, discuss the ethical issues in the scenario. Refer to the following resources:

American Psychology-Law Society. (2011). Specialty guidelines for forensic psychology: Adopted by APA Council of Representatives[Unofficial version]. Retrieved from http://www.ap-ls.org/aboutpsychlaw/SGFP_Final_Appr…
Write a 5- to 6-page report in a Microsoft Word document addressing the following:
Identify the appropriate APA ethical code(s) and the specialty guidelines that may apply to this scenario.
Examine the limits of confidentiality. How might those limits be affected by some of the information contained in the scenario?
Discuss specific circumstances in the case study in which there might be a duty to report or duty to warn.
Explain the limitations of what the evaluator can and cannot say.
Discuss the implications of the third-party observer to the overall evaluation.
Your report should rely upon at least four scholarly resources from the professional literature that are cited in APA format. The literature may include the Argosy University online library resources; relevant textbooks; peer-reviewed journal articles; and websites created by professional organizations, agencies, or institutions (.edu, and .gov).
