Write a one-page, double spaced, reflective paper addressing the following:

What are the major stressors you’re experiencing?

Elaborate on your resting pulse rate, physical and psychological reactions you encountered.

Explain how you can use what you’ve learned to respond to stressors/threats in a way to minimize the likelihood that they will result in a stress reaction

Police officers interact with an increasing number of mentally ill individuals, often resulting in needless force or fatal interactions.  Following the shooting death of a 27-year-old who struggled with mental illness and cocaine use, a new approach called the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) model of policing was born.  Many police departments now have Crisis Intervention Teams to deescalate mental health crises and avoid arrests by directing individuals into treatment programs.
Assignment: The objective of this assignment is to evaluate the effectiveness of Crisis Intervention Teams.  Some studies show that Crisis Intervention Teams are successful in reducing force and providing treatment for mentally ill offenders, while other studies show fewer advantages of such teams.
Students are to use two journal articles relating to the effectiveness of Crisis Intervention Teams.  TIP: To locate relevant journal articles, add the word research to your search terms.
The submitted paper must be 12-point font (Arial or Times New Roman only), double-spaced type, Resources must be reflected in a bibliography, using APA citation rules.
 Paper Formatting Requirements:
Cover Page: Include the title of the paper, your name, the class title and date of submission
Section 1: Introduction: Make an introductory statement about Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT) and explain the purpose of your paper.
Section 2: Summarize the main points of the two articles, including how Crisis Intervention Teams are used.
Section 3:   Compare and contrast the authors’ perspectives on the advantages and disadvantages of Crisis Intervention Teams.  Do the authors reach the same conclusions?  How are their perspectives alike and how do they differ?   Did the authors conclude that the program was an effective use of resources or not?  Did the authors find that Crisis Intervention Teams decrease force and provide treatment for mentally ill offenders?  Provide supporting statistics.
Section 4: Conclusion: Provide a focused, concise conclusion based on your analysis of the articles, explaining why Crisis Intervention Teams should or should not be used.
 

Directions for Part 2

For this part of the direct care project, you will be creating a PowerPoint presentation based on the topic and problem identified in Part 1. If you chose air quality as your topic, you will present on the Air Quality Flag Program. If you chose substance use, you will present the SBIRT intervention model.

If you have chosen substance use, you will present to at least 3 practicing RN’s. You can present all at one time or individually. If you chose air quality, you will present to at least one organization leader. See the Direct Care Project module for FAQs.

Download the template below and create a PowerPoint presentation for your selected group.
Create speaker notes for the PowerPoint presentation. These will assist you as you present and will be part of your assignment submission.
Utilize your own words and paraphrasing for all presentation content.
The presentation should be no fewer than 8 and no more than 15 slides. This does not include the introduction and reference slides.
Submit presentation in PDF for instructor approval. See Submitting PowerPoint Notes Pages in PDF format (Links to an external site.).

You will present the PowerPoint to your audience, not the PDF, as you do not want the speaker notes to show to your audience members.

Share with your coworkers at least three effective writing strategies the author of the sample article uses in the article, and explain how applying these strategies from the article can help your coworkers, as professionals, to ensure the documents they write are also effective.Your company newsletter should be 5-6 well-developed paragraphs in length, around 2 full double spaced pages, excluding the title page and References page. Be sure that you do the following:

Define effective writing
Identify the articles author, title, and publication information.
Apply reading comprehension strategies to correctly identify the articles intended audience, purpose, and main point
Analyze at least three writing strategies the author uses to develop the articles main point
Explain what the author does to effectively convey ideas for his or her audience and for his or her purpose.
Explain to your coworkers how they might model their own writing after what this author does in the article so that they, too, can be more effective writers.
Be sure that your document is organized, edited, and professional in tone. If you use any sources to support your claims about reading and effectiveness in writing, give appropriate credit to the sources both in-text and in a References page.
