Research Paper

This research paper builds on your previous prewriting—your topic selection, preliminary research, and annotated bibliography. It should be 13-15 pages (of content) and arranged according to the following structure:

The first 6 or so pages should overview the 6 journal articles you found on your chosen novel. Arrange your discussion of these articles chronologically and offer your readers a critical history of the novel by explaining the arguments each article makes, what theoretical assumptions undergird those interpretations, and what central interpretive challenges about the book this historical overview turns on. In other words, what are the central aspects of the novel that drive critics to arrive at different conclusions and why?

In the next 3-4 pages, you will assess these various interpretations, evaluating their strengths and weaknesses, explaining which interpretations clash with each other and why and which might complement another’s analysis. Basically, in this section, you are guiding your readers through the critical history to help us make better sense of it and to know what our own conclusions should be.

In the final 3-4pages or so, you will present your own interpretation of the novel, especially as it arises out of your study of this critical history and your assessment of the interpretations offered. In so doing, you should reveal your stance on the theoretical questions that underlie literary interpretation itself.

You will use only the 6 journal articles and the primary source (novel) for developing this paper.

Assignment 6: formal letter | Computer Science homework help

Within a few days after a job interview, you should write and send in a letter of thanks. In most cases, it is okay to send this letter via email. However, if time permits, a handwritten letter is always better.

Using the job described in the ad you targeted in your budget assignment, pretend you already interviewed with the supervisor and write a thank-you letter in response. Your letter should be professionally written as discussed in this lesson. Use the letter to incorporate at least one of the following thank you letter concepts:

  • Stress how well you fit in with the company culture, especially now that you know more about it having gone through the interview.
  • Build on the strengths of the interview and emphasize the match between you and the job.
  • Bring up anything you thought of after the interview that is pertinent to the employer’s concerns.
  • Do damage control to carefully address anything that went wrong in the interview.
  • Restate your understanding of the next step in the process.
  • Restate your enthusiasm for the job.

You should pretend that you are submitting the letter via email, but you will submit it here as part of a Word document. The thank-you letter you write for this assignment should:

  • be in standard business letter format, single-spaced, 12 pt font, and 1 inch margins.
  • be relatively brief. Three (3) paragraphs is fine, although it can be longer.
  • not contain typos/misspellings. Like the resume, in the work place, a thank-you letter is highly judged if there are typos or misspellings.
  • refer to an attachment that contains references. You do not need to attach anything, just tell the reader there is an attachment.

Complete one Hazard Profile Worksheet for each  hazard identified in the Vulnerability Assessment Worksheet.

Instructions

  1. Download the HazardProfileWorksheet.docx.  This contains 20 blank forms to fill.  You can copy and paste, or delete pages, to match the amount of hazards you have previously identified on all three tabs of your previous assignments.

In an article published in Sustainability (Vol. 12, 2020), a group of researchers sought to identify an appropriate forecasting method to reduce the number of road accidents in Thailand. The data used in the analysis included the death rate per 100,000 citizens, gross domestic product (GDP), number of registered vehicles (motorcycles, cars, and trucks), and energy consumption of the transportation sector. Let  death rate and  number of registered cars. The researchers assumed that the death rate increases as the number of registered cars increases. After the analysis, the model yielded an estimated slope of -.120, with an associated two-tailed -value of .05. Do you agree with the researchers’ assumption?

Household energy expenditure. – My Blog

Household energy expenditure. Refer to the annual total household expenditure on energy from 2011 to 2020, Exercise 11.43 (p. 666). Now consider a simple linear regression model for total expenditure , using household expenditure on gas  as the independent variable. Is there sufficient evidence of a negative linear relationship between total expenditure and household expenditure on liquid fuels? Test using . Does your conclusion change if you use

Exercise 11.43

Household energy expenditure. Refer to the annual total household expenditure on energy from 2011 to 2020, Exercise 11.29 (p. 661). From among the variables in the file, you selected one as the dependent variable, , and another as the independent variable, , and ran a simple linear regression. Now select a different independent variable and run another simple linear regression. Which of the two independent variables is a more accurate predictor of your chosen dependent variable? Explain.

Exercise 11.29

Household energy expenditure. Refer to annual total household expenditure on energy from 2011 to 2020, Exercise 2.43 (p. 89). Recall that annual total household expenditure data (in £ million) on gas, electricity, and liquid fuels, and the total of individual household’s expenditure on energy are save in the file. Information from the first two and last two rows are listed in the table below.

a. Select one of the variables as the dependent variable, , and another as the independent variable, . Use your knowledge of the subject area and common sense to help you select the variables.

b. Fit the simple linear model, , to the U.K. household data. Interpret the estimates of the slope and -intercept.

Exercise 2.43

Household energy expenditure. The annual total household expenditure on energy in the United Kingdom from 2011 to 2020 was selected from the Office of National Statistics’ Consumer Trends Time Series data. The data consists of the annual total household expenditure (in £ millions) on gas, electricity, liquid fuels, and the total of individual household’s expenditure on energy which denoted as the total expenditure (in £ millions). The data are saved in the ENERGY file. The first two and last two rows are listed in the table above.

a. Calculate the average of the total expenditure on energy for the ten years (2011 to 2020) and determine whether this statistic represents a population or sample mean. Interpret this value.

b. Find the median of the total expenditure on energy for the ten years. Does this statistic represent a population or sample median? Interpret this value.
