Three reply needed for the below posts. Social Justice Theatre Proposal Blake The problem I am wishing to address through performance is the issue of potholes on the streets. Due to the heavy winters and snow plowing, the roads are in tough shape. By using actors playing the roles of public workers, the play is supposed to leave a clear message. The blatant message would get across that the roads need to be fixed. This would be played for the public. The actors would be playing the roles of highway department workers, police, and other members of the community. The audience would consist of members of that community curious about the ongoing issue. All ages are welcome to watch the show.  The plot starts with someone driving a brand-new luxury car and blowing out their tire on a pothole. The same happens with other vehicles throughout the town. Each time, the driver complains to the police officer who arrives on the scene. The police officers get so fed up with the number of tire blow-outs, that they demand the government to pay for the roads. The government refuses to use tax money on the roads until the people protest, as well as fill in the holes themselves. The government finally gives money to the roads and the mayor steps down.  The play would be held in a theater and involve actors/actresses along with a producer. Since I’m scripting the play, I would be directing the production. The play would be rehearsed as many times needed before everyone knew their lines and actions in the play. Since a lot of money would go into this production, the agency putting on the show would be on a budget. Attendees would have to pay for a ticket to see the production, but in return are being educated on the state of their taxpayer money and what should be changed.AlyssaTheatre Appreciation Social Justice Proposal What problem are you wishing to address? I wish to address the current situation with Russia and Ukraine and how the war is affecting both sides, capturing the innocence and realization. Who are your performers? – Volodymyr Zelensky (Ukraine president) – A few men from the Russia Military – A family from Ukraine with 2 young children (ages 3 and 6) Who is your audience? Anyone but particularly anyone who is interested in learning/helping out during the war. Briefly describe your script. The family from Ukraine is trying to leave to survive, obviously with 2 kids, both being very young, there are some complications. Zelensky is seen at the front lines fighting for Ukraine and once the few men from the Russia Military see that they begin to understand they have been given incorrect information. The few men from the Russia Military realize they don’t agree with what they’re doing but don’t have much of a choice until they come across the family in Ukraine and help them out. What are the logistics of putting on this show? ● Where would you have it? I would have the show put on in multiple known theaters like Broadway. ● How many rehearsals would you need? I think the show would need a lot of rehearsals to capture the innocence in the children from the Ukraine family and the realization in the men from the Russia Military. ● Do you see yourself as a director/performer or both? I see myself as a performer but possibly could input my own ideas into my character or another character. ● Would you need a budget or would everyone be donating their time/space? Is this a required community building activity? I think I would need a budget. I would want people to pay to see the show so the money toward tickets could be as a donation toward the war but in my opinion the only way the tickets will sell is if the show is put on in perfection.
