Read “Space Age Furniture Company” in Chapter 9 of your text. Respond to the following and include any Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) calculations:

1. Develop an MRP for Space Age Furniture Company using the information in the case including the production of sub-assemblies in lot sizes of 1,000.
2. The lot size of 1,000 for sub-assemblies has produced a lumpy demand for part 3079. Suggest ways for improvements over sub-assemblies in lot sizes of 1,000.
3. Analyze the trade-off between overtime costs and inventory costs.
4. Calculate a new MRP that improves the base MRP.
5. Compare and contrast the types of production processing—job shop, batch, repetitive, or continuous—and determine which the primary mode of operation is and why.
6. Describe ways that management can keep track of job status and location during production.
7. Recommend any changes that might be beneficial to the company and/or add value for the customer.

The final case study should demonstrate your understanding of the reading as well as the implications of new knowledge. The paper should integrate readings, scholarly sources, and class discussions into work and life experiences. It may include explanation and examples from previous events as well as implications for future applications.

The purpose of the final case study is for you to culminate the learning achieved in the course by describing your understanding and application of knowledge in the field of operations management.

4. Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
5. Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.
6. Must use at least five scholarly sources.
7. Must document all sources in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
8. Must include a separate reference page, formatted according to APA style as outlined

Write a 1,400- to 1,750-word paper in which you distinguish the significance and importance of innovation in your selected business. Attribute the importance of innovation when developing the vision, mission, and values, and determine your business model for this new division. Include the following:

• Propose a new product or service for the new company division and sustain the selection with research. The division should be customer-focused with an innovative mission statement. Ensure that you are differentiating your product or service by explaining the validity, reliability and credibility of the research collected data.

• Analyze and describe how the division addresses customer needs and achieves competitive advantage considering the workplace values, personnel behavior and individual values.

• Create a vision and a business model for this new division that clearly demonstrates your decision on what you want your business to become in the future and make sure you identify alternative solutions based on the impact and identification of potential risks and mitigation plans.

• Explain how the vision, mission, and value of the new division align with the company’s mission and vision and the impact in each one of the stakeholders.

• Summarize how the vision, mission, and values guide the division’s strategic direction. Analyze the degree of alignment of the new company division with the organization values as reflected by the organizational plan and actions.

• Define your guiding principles and values for your division. Evaluate the implications in the context of culture, social responsibility, and ethics.
