Assessment Description

In 2009, upon noticing a dearth of evidence-based decisions in health care settings, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) set a goal to substantially increase the number of clinical decisions supported by timely and relevant evidence over the following decade. Bridging the gap between research findings and practice implementation was a key strategy the IOM utilized to make this goal more achievable. Relying on the best evidence allows health care practitioners to deliver quality and appropriate patient care while helping to improve the nation’s health.

What professional nursing organizations are you interested in or currently participate in?

I will be interested in the AANP eventually. I hope to obtain a Master’s degree in Nursing to become a Nurse Practitioner. The AANP is the largest and only full-service national professional membership organization for NPs of all specialties. It provides legislative leadership at the local, state, and federal levels to help advance health policy. It promotes excellence in practice, education, and research. AANP’s mission is every NP should be empowered to advance accessible, person-centered, equitable, high-quality health care for diverse communities through practice, education, advocacy, research and leadership. (AANP, 2022).

What nursing certifications or continuing education (graduate degree) might fit into your future plans?

I would like to achieve a Master’s in Nursing through a Nurse Practitioner Program. I am sure I will need to participate in many CEU’s to keep up on updated information.

Regarding your own transformational leadership skills, what aspect of the TEACH values discussed in the lesson do you think would most benefit your work environment if adopted? As a transformational leader, what action could you take to incorporate this chosen TEACH value into the work environment?

This is so hard to pick just one. I would like to think HEART is important though as a healthcare provider. HEART stands for serving with passion, respect, and care (Week 6 Lesson). If you’re going to be a healthcare provider, you must care about the patient you are about to treat. You must be respectful towards them, non-judgmental and honestly just want what is going to be best for them. After all, we should become providers because we want to help.

When you show you care it also keeps a positive atmosphere. Nurses and techs have more respect for healthcare providers that care and do not just do the bare minimum or push things off. It also creates a name for you within the community about how caring of a provider you are. This will also make the company your work for look good and they will also build up confidence from patients because of the quality providers they are employing.

Compare the physical assessments among school-aged children. Describe how you would modify assessment techniques to match the age and developmental stage of the child. Choose a child between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. Identify the age of the child and describe the typical developmental stages of children that age. Applying developmental theory based on Erickson, Piaget, or Kohlberg, explain how you would developmentally assess the child. Include how you would offer explanations during the assessment, strategies you would use to gain cooperation, and potential findings from the assessment. Minimum of 4 peer-reviewed sources is required to complete this using APA 2007 style with incitation.

4. Provide an appraisal/analysis of the articles.
   Describe the research components valuable to the creditability of the studies (one to two paragraphs per article).
   1. Summary of overall article as it pertains to proposed project
      1. Number of participants/sample size
      2. What was done in the study
      3. Validity/reliability of the pre- and post-assessment tool(s), if applicable
      4. Findings of the study
      5. Any other pertinent information
