The benefit of Theory of Integral Nursing is that holistic nursing practice is included in the theory. As we know, the healing process is more complex than the modern medical industry would have you believe, with an array of mind-body-spirit interactions impacting patients’ ability to heal from injuries and illnesses (Hoffman & Maynard, 2014). Holistic nurses address the oft-forgotten mental and spiritual aspects of healthcare, thereby promoting long-term wellness as well as short-term relief. The focus is on the whole person, as opposed to one or two specific symptoms.
Essential III, Quality Improvement and Safety and Essential VIII, Clinical Prevention and Population Health for Improving Health work well with the Theory of Integral Nursing because both are embraced and transcend in the integral process of clinical practice. In the Theory of Integral Nursing, the integral worldview examines values, beliefs, assumptions, meaning, purpose, and judgments related to how individuals perceive reality and relationships from the above four perspectives (Fawcett, 2010).

There are many benefits to the Theory of Integral Nursing, namely the open dialogues that are transformative and visionary in nature and evolve into ideas and possibilities across disciplines where these four perspectives are considered as equally important to all exchanges, endeavors, and outcomes. The theory offers an increased integral awareness and an integral worldview of how nurses can apply the theory to clinical practice. The theory offers new possibilities and ways to strengthen their capacities for integral dialogues with each other and other disciplines. Nurses are able to use the theory to raise their collective nursing voice and power to engage in social action in the professional role and work of service for society (American Public Health Association, 2017).
Essential VI, Health Policy and Advocacy, can well integrate into the Theory of Integral Nursing as it informs the nurse on how to engage in social justice and become more involved in the legislative process. Essential VIII, Clinical Prevention and Population Health for Improving Health also works well with the Theory of Integral Nursing because it seeks to illuminate the nurse with best practices on health prevention (Lundy & Janes, 2009).
