Descriptive Statistics and Inferential Statistics
Task
This assessment is a research report investigating the correlation between subjective wellbeing (SWB) and personality. Your task is to write an APA (7th ed.) style research report. Information for writing research reports is provided in Topic 1 (Preparation and Orientation) and the APA Style and Writing Guide (a link to this resource is on Interact2). There will also be two online meetings, one on writing research reports and another on thisassessment topic. These resources and instructions will help you to understand the requirements of this assessment. For this assessment, you will be provided with a data set and required to calculate means and standard deviations. You will also be provided with the correlations coefficients which you will need to interpret but you do not have to calculate them. Full details and instructions for the report, calculating, and interpreting the statistics are provided on Interact2. The following readings will assist in understanding report writing, descriptive statistics, and correlations.
Background to the topic
Considerable research has shown that there are differing links between SWB and the personality traits of extroversion, neuroticism, agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness to experience. These differing findings may be attributable to both SWB and personality defined and measured in various ways, it is therefore important to examine whether this relationship is consistent across different measurements and samples of participants. Extending research into other populations helps to establish whether there is a universal connection between SWB and personality. Few researchers have considered retirees and fewer still in an Australian context. Full instructions for this assessment are on Interact2 including some references to get you started in your reading. You should also read further and when researching the topic, do not use web pages, blogs or other low-quality sources.

Please note that extension requests submitted via the special consideration form without appropriate documentation will not be approved. If you are granted an extension your marked assessment will have a return date of 15 working days after the submission date (i.e., the above return date does not apply), therefore it may not be returned prior to the examination period.
Turnitin
Turnitin is provided to check your referencing and paraphrasing skills. It is a requirement of this assessment that you report the similarity score on your Title page (see general formatting section for details). A guide on how to interpret and read your similarity report is available on the Turnitin Tab on Interact2. Please note that you must upload your final assessment to EASTS, any submissions for marking via Turnitin will NOT be accepted/marked.
