Parent news letter – My Blog

This assignment supports CLO 3: Analyze strategies that empower families to establish and maintain collaborative relationships to support the growth and development of children.

Parent Newsletter

For this assignment you will create and upload into Canvas a parent newsletter. You can use a template from word. This is not a newsletter to let parents know about the current theme, field trips, or fun things going on in the program. If the letter covers this information you will not get credit for the letter. This is a letter that teacher/director/owner would write to inform parents and families of something more serious. The topic you choose should be the only topic covered in the newsletter.

Your one page newsletter should include:

Heading/Newsletter title, date, your name
Main contents/body:
What was the incident?
How was it taken care of?
Resources regarding the incident (example: if the incident was a lice breakout, is there a link to a website that would inform parents, is there information about how to get rid of lice in hair or furniture?…)
More criteria:

Clarity of message (is it understandable?)
Accuracy of information (is it true?)
Quality of information (something parents may not know? Too much info? Too little info?)
Visually appealing (neat/attractive. Too busy? Too little information?)
Grammar and spelling
Good graphic, design, and style.
Some suggestions for parent guidance:

Violence witnessed Death (family member, friend, pet)

Medical incident. Communicable disease

Injury at school Illness (flu, COVID-19…)

Lice outbreak Police/fire at school
