Read the following case study regarding Eve. You will find an example attachment of a biopsychosocial assessment. Remember that when assessing clients we utilize an ecosystems perspective. We look at the client’s biological, psychological, and social factors that impact their life through the systems that they are linked with as well. It’s important to note that there are several versions of this type of assessment. The agency that you become employed with may have their own that they require employees to use. This is only an example for students to view to have a better indication of what areas are to be filled out to gather information when assessing a client. Once you have completed the case study, complete your own assessment gathering the information from the case study. You will NOT use the same form but simply use the following headings: BIOLOGICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, AND SOCIAL. These are 3 of the main areas of a biopsychsocial. Please write a description of each area and how it specifically impact’s Eve’s life under each heading. This must be in paragraph form. Eve lives in a small town. She has two children, a son,Matt, who is 17 and has Crohns disease, and adaughter, Joanne, who is 15. Eves mother died fouryears ago, and her father, Geoff, lives close by. Geoffhas early stage vascular dementia and numeroushealth problems relating to a heart attack he had twoyears ago. Eve works part time in an administrationrole at a local college. She has lost contact with herfriends and lost touch with her hobbies (swimmingand singing in a choir) because she has prioritizedher family.
Matt is at college studying for his college exams. Heis frustrated that his illness is interfering withall aspects of his life. Joanne is becoming morewithdrawn and resentful as an increasing amount ofEves time is taken up with other family members.Geoff has started to neglect himself at home,and is finding it more difficult to carry out dailytasks. Following a social care assessment, he hasa befriending service stop by every week and ahomecare team each morning to conduct a wellness check andsupervise his medication, whichEve sets up for them. The care agency has reportedthat theres a possibility Geoff has been accessing hismedication and taking it. Geoff remains adamant thathe is fine, and with Eves support he can manage.
Eve is feeling stressed and isolated. She wants toincrease her working hours for financial reasons,but is unable to as she needs to be available forGeoff. Eve is having problems with sleeping andfeels generally run down, and recently has beensuffering from stomach pain and nausea. She saysthat she feels withdrawn from normal life. She triedattending a support group but found that listening toothers problems highlighted her own. Instead,she sometimes uses an online forum at night wheneveryone else is asleep.
